LARC is deeply grateful for the first responders and dedicated volunteers from across the country and around the world who’ve come together to support Los Angeles during this crisis. Connection is at the heart of everything we do. In the video below, our Board Chair Paul Gomes puts that value in action by being of service after his neighborhood fires. Staying connected not only supports others but combats feelings of hopelessness within ourselves.

LARC WELCOMES A NEW RECOVERY COACH
Recovery Coaching is a round-the-clock commitment at LARC, ensuring our residents and community members always have the support they need—especially during the critical transition period after move-in. Thanks to a generous grant from the McMillan Family Foundation, we’re thrilled to welcome Barbara Burgio to our team to cover the Sunday shift. This means our full-time Recovery Coach, who has been serving as a dedicated volunteer, can finally take a well-deserved day off! This milestone brings us one step closer to fulfilling one of our three-year strategic goals of prioritizing staff and volunteer retention and well-being.
A top fundraising priority for 2025 remains funding the salary of our full time Recovery Coach.

LARC WELCOMES A NEW BOARD TREASURER
Jeff Weinfeld, a proud Los Angeles native, brings over a decade of CPA experience, including time at a “big four” firm. His NGO work in disaster recovery across the U.S. and Mexico reinforced his belief in the power of connection and community support. A Koreatown resident, Jeff advocates for public transportation and enjoys exploring the city’s vibrant culture. In his free time, he plays soccer with his city league team and relaxes with his beloved cat, Licenciado.
Jeff is honored to support LA Recovery Connect’s mission of empowering under-resourced individuals on their recovery journeys.

LARC’s COMMUNITY CORNER
A LARC alumni's story...
Exactly two years ago today, I found myself fleeing an unsafe living situation, having a mental health crisis, and being unceremoniously fired from my job. After maxing out my credit cards staying at a hotel for a week, followed by a two-week psychiatric hospitalization, and then a month at a sober living without any phone, car, or visitation “privileges,” I managed to land a bed and home at LA Recovery Connect.

GIVING TUESDAY GRATITUDE
Our deepest thanks to everyone who gave to our Giving Tuesday Campaign. Your donations were applied to LARC’s Resident Scholarship Initiative. This gives residents much needed financial assistance in their residence fee obligations as they work to enroll in school and/or find employment when they first arrive at LARC. We support them by assisting with resume writing, interview skills, and all facets of their job search.
|
|
We can’t do this work without you! Your donation sustains our programming by providing a salary for our full time Recovery Coach, scaling our Grief Groups and providing resident scholarships.
Your tax deductible contribution monthly, quarterly or annually allows us to continue to support under-resourced people in recovery. Thank you!
